Meet the chef behind the magic
Executive Chef Brian McPherson of Jackson 20, a favorite among restaurants in Old Town, hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has been cooking in restaurant kitchens since he was 15. His impressive resume boasts experience in esteemed eateries along the East Coast, from a Martha's Vineyard seafood tavern to D.C.'s Poste Moderne Brasserie, praised for its sustainable practices. At Jackson 20, McPherson prepares "simple food well done;" think shareable, Southern-inspired comfort dishes that are both seasonal and locally-sourced. McPherson often collaborates with Virginia farmers and nearby Alexandria farmers' markets, using producers like Bev Eggleston of Eco-Friendly Foods and Polyface Farm. A resident of D.C.'s Capitol's Hill neighborhood, he enjoys riding his bike to work on warmer days and, in his off-time, often experiments with herbs in his backyard garden. Hats off, Chef!
